The South African Medical Association (SAMA) is a not-for-profit Company Reg no 1927/000136/08 professional association for medical doctors, representing the interests of medical doctors from both the private sector and the public sector.
Medical doctors and medical students registered in terms of the Health Professions Act 56 of 1974, with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), qualify for SAMA membership. All members must abide by the Memorandum of Incorporation (MOI) and Company Rules of the Association. With the exception of honorary or international members, SAMA members enjoy full voting rights at National Council and local Branch levels.
CPD Programme Participation
Only members of SAMA will be allowed to participate in the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme of the SAMJ incorporating CME questionnaires. The CPD programme for SAMJ is administered by Medical Practice Consulting. CPD questionnaires can be completed online by following this link.
Renewal Notice and Information Update
Renewal notices will be sent to all members every year in December. These renewals will also include a car disk for the next year.
All renewals will be electronically generated and emailed to a member, on exception of members without email facilities, which will then be sent by normal postal services.
