The SAMA Medical Doctors’ Coding Manual (MDCM) book, previously known as the Doctors’ Billing Manual (DBM) is back given popular demand. The book, which has been in use as a reference guide for allocating procedure codes and generating claims data, was last published in 2009, but since then  only the electronic version of the Medical Doctors’ Coding Manual (eMDCM)  was made available.

SAMA has decided to reintroduce the book format of the MDCM. The manual is currently in press, but can be ordered via the SAMA website. This publication will only be available from the end of April 2015. The 2015 electronic version has been available since January 2015 and can be ordered via the website https://www.samedical.org/products/readMore/1

The 2015 book format incorporates:

o        All code related interpretations appear together with the code for easier and quicker reference.

o        All changes and updates dating back to 2009.

o        Separate sections for the Road Accident Fund and the Compensation Fund.

o         The current scope of practice of medical doctors.
