COMMUNIQUE TO EMPLOYED SAMA MEMBERS: FEEDBACK ON THE MOVE FROM PERSAL TO DEBIT ORDER
Dear Colleagues
Thank you for your valuable comments and positive responses to the communication sent on the 18th of April 2020. As a further clarification and in response to queries we have received, please read the below information:
Membership status and benefits: Public Sector Members
For proper housekeeping purposes and the sake of clarity, it is important to reassure you that the migration process embarked upon will not change your membership status. SAMA remains a voluntary association that is open to all employed doctors within the Republic of South Africa. The change from persal to debit order payment will not change your entitlement to be assisted with professional labour and legal services. You will continue to have access to the highly qualified lawyers in our legal and employee relations departments.
You will also not, at any stage, incur additional costs in as far as the change or migration is concerned. In other words, you will not be expected to pay membership fees to SAMA both through the Persal system and debit order facility.
Debit Order Facility
SAMA has come up with easy ways to assist members in this migration to debit order process. For easy access to this form of payment click on this link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe3KfgSrJC9wng6dToMiC4CtMPDkE4wzXaGqCorEqlQ89UXsQ/viewform
By completing this form online, your deduction from Persal will be cancelled and your SAMA membership will continue as normal. Please note that if you do not make this change in payment method by the 1st of May 2020, you will no longer be a member of the South African Medical Association in good standing.
Administration Order
Lastly, the SAMATU Administrator has requested the South African Medical Association to provide him with information pertaining to Trade Union members. We cannot give this information without your permission. Should you wish us to pass on your information, please use the email address below to give us permission to share your contact details.
