Dear Branch Chairpersons,

Below are the newly elected SAMA Board members for 2022. To assist you put faces to names of people you may not yet know, I have included a photo and a short biographical profile of each Board member. The former Vice-Chairperson of the SAMA Board, Dr Mvuyisi Mzukwa, now assumes the role of Chairperson while Dr Edward Ngwenya will serve as the new Vice-Chairperson. For those of you who did not attend the AGM of 27 January 2022, the three newly elected Board members are Prof. Aimes Dhai, Dr Jacques Snyman, and Dr Malikah van der Schyff.

I would like to assure you that SAMA has always been, and remains, a membership association committed to the interests of its members. Similarly, every Board member is committed to the ideals of SAMA and to each and every medical doctor and student irrespective of race, age, gender or sexual orientation for the health of the nation.  I would further like to tell you about the three major projects for the year:

1) Independent Medical and Dental Council
2) Growing the membership of the Association for effective advocacy
3) Effective representation for member’s on professional and labour issues
