SAMA PERSAL migration update

Dear colleagues

SAMA wishes to again thank members for responding to an urgent call to change their membership payment method from PERSAL to debit order.

If you missed our previous communications in this regard – which covers the historical reasons for this appeal, as well as a summary of the benefits you receive from belonging to a united organisation that offers medical professionals a strong and united voice – you can access them here:

https://www.samedical.org/cmsuploader/viewArticle/1157
https://www.samedical.org/cmsuploader/viewarticle/1162

In summary, SAMA will no longer benefit from the PERSAL deductions being made from your salary. In order to remain a member of SAMA and to continue receiving the many member benefits, please change the way you pay your membership fees to a debit order.

We are pleased to inform you that this process is going well and that debit-order forms continue to be received and processed by our team who, as you know, are working from home to offer a seamless service and ensure that we can continue to represent your interests during this stressful time. While we recognize that this is a difficult time for the whole nation, healthcare workers are on the frontline, and it is essential that we speak as one, with a united voice, to ensure that we are adequately prepared and protected for this fight.

Please be aware that we have begun a proactive telephonic campaign to reach out to each of you individually, to answer your questions and guide you through this process.

How do I change?

SAMA has come up with simple way to assist members in the migration to a debit-order system. For easy access to this form of payment, click on this link:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe3KfgSrJC9wng6dToMiC4CtMPDkE4wzXaGqCorEqlQ89UXsQ/viewform.

By completing this form online, your deduction from PERSAL will be cancelled and your SAMA membership will continue as normal.

Double debit

If you have authorized SAMA to run a debit order, we will ensure that we cancel the PERSAL deduction and you will not be double debited.

If you already pay by debit order

If you already pay by debit order, you do not have to do anything – your membership fees will continue to be deducted, as usual.

Legal and Labour representation

SAMA continues to employ competent legal and labour law professionals. For an extensive list of the legal services that members can benefit from, please see https://www.samedical.org/cmsuploader/viewarticle/1162.

The following legal services are provided to SAMA members:

● Individual labour law services to employed doctors
● Collective Labour Services to Employed Doctors
● General legal services

Deadline
In response to the many requests we have received, we have now extended the deadline to 1 June 2020 for this migration process to be concluded. However, we recognize that this may not be possible for all members, given current constraints and levels of work. Should you need an extension, please contact our team to discuss further.
