COVID 19: Revised Compensation Fund Directive on Workplace Acquired COVID-19

The Compensation Fund at the Department of Labour has issued revised Directions in relation to Worlplace Acquired COVID-19 (24 July). These replace the previous guidance issued in March 2020. The Directions include a new category of very high risk healthcare workers, as well as confirmation for cover of tests and other treatments related to any complications of infection.

REINSTATEMENT OF SAMATU DEDUCTIONS AGAINST THE WISHES OF SAMA PUBLIC SECTOR MEMBERS

The Administrator of the trade union (seemingly aided by the Registrar of Labour, and Department of Public Service and Administration) has used the judgement of the labour court to obstruct the migration process and the wishes of our members by reinstating Persal deductions for SAMATU, even after resignation from the SAMATU has taken place.
